Portable Internet Access

Portable Internet Access - SolarNetOne (GALLERY)

Internet access is a major issue with the modern traveler, especially when they must head to remote locations where traditional workstations are unheard of.

SolarNetOne is essentially a “Internet-in-a-box terminal network system,” as Springwise quips. Photovoltaic solar panels power a small-footprint server and terminals equipped with LCD monitors, 15,000 applications and full mobile office and web browsing capabilities.

SolarNetOne has both an Ethernet hub and Wi-Fi coverage within a two-mile radius. The eco-friendly project uses no more power than a 100-watt light bulb.

There is currently a SolarNetOne installation at Katsina State University in Nigeria, images of which are found in the gallery.
